January Jones just might thaw her ice-queen image with her red-hot Emma Frost role in X-Men: First Class.
Besides showing off telepathic powers in the superhero prequel set to open in June, Jones’ mutant showcases “lots of revealing skin-tight leather” as the siren of the dastardly Hellfire Club.
It seems like a radical change for the actress best known as the aloof Betty Draper on the acclaimed cable series Mad Men.
At a Beverly Hills hotel recently, Jones insists she’s up for the sexy, comic-book makeover.

January Jones is best known for playing 1960s housewife Betty Draper on AMC’s ‘Mad Men,’ but as we discussed just last month on the occasion of her 33rd birthday, this could very well be the year she breaks out at the movie theater, as well.
At the very least, she has some interesting projects on the docket in 2011. This weekend brings the Hitchcockian thriller ‘Unknown,’ in which she plays the frigid wife of a frantic Liam Neeson. And in June, she’ll join a strong cast to appear in skimpy white attire as the telepath Emma Frost in ‘X-Men: First Class.’

Fresh off her appearance on AskMen’s Top 99 Most Desirable Women 2011, January Jones is building off her successful recurring role on TV’s Mad Men to star alongside Liam Neeson, Diane Kruger and Frank Langella in the action thriller Unknown. Jones plays Neeson’s wife — a devoted companion who seems to lose all memory of her husband when another man takes the place of Neeson’s character.
A clear tribute to Alfred Hitchcock’s films with its themes of list memory, mistaken identity and conspiracy, Unknown begs for the classic filmmaker’s preferred steely blonde to play Neeson’s wife. Jones fills in admirably with her pale blue eyes and deceptive expressions.

January Jones has revealed X-Men First Class director Matthew Vaughn is rushing to finish the movie for its release date after filming over-ran.
The Mad Men star plays mutant telepath Emma Frost who has the ability to turn her skin into diamond in the film, which co-stars James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender – and she’s quoted by movie blog Screenrant.com as saying that shooting was behind schedule.
January reportedly joked: “Poor Matthew Vaughn is going to have to edit it in three days.”
She went on: “I think it was unrealistic for them to think they were going to make such a huge movie in whatever we had – two months or something.
“So of course we went over [schedule] I think I have a couple more days to shoot… We’re almost done. The fact we’ve had to push the wrap date but they haven’t moved the release date is really interesting to me.
“I guess they must know what they’re doing. I have a lot of faith in Matthew as a director and an editor, I think his movies are great. And I think they’ve been cutting as we’ve been going. We should be fine.”
Meanwhile, the blonde beauty dressed up as sequinned cupid as she appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s comedy talk show for a Valentine’s Day special.
January, wearing a Wonder Woman-inspired outfit, discussed the possibility of a fifth series of Mad Men with the talk show host before joining in a bow and arrow-themed drinking game.

As TV’s mother from hell on “Mad Men,” January Jones isn’t looking for some warm fuzzies to change her image. Ask her if she wants to play nice at the movies and she makes a face.
“What’s so fun about playing someone sweet?” she says. “Am I typecast now as being horrible? Maybe. It’s kind of great, isn’t it?”
Jones, 33, plays true to her typecast in the thriller “Unknown” (opening Friday). Liam Neeson plays her husband — or does he? After he recovers from a coma during a business trip in Berlin, she claims she doesn’t know him.
Q. How are you coping with all this career activity?
A. I’m not ambitious anymore. I’m jaded. No, just kidding. I’m very motivated and challenged. It has all gone great — so far.

Elizabeth Harris is no Betty Draper.
“Mad Men” fans who know January Jones as the icy mom get to see the actress take on a role in “Unknown” that’s light-years away from the ’60s housewife.
Jones plays Elizabeth Harris, who travels to Berlin with her biochemist husband Dr. Martin Harris (Liam Neeson).
Within hours, Martin is in a car accident, waking days later to find Elizabeth “married” to another Martin Harris (Aidan Quinn).
Calling Elizabeth “interesting and undefinable,” she explained, “You don’t know who she is … and you might never know who she is. The audience has to decide: Is she a good or bad guy.
“What I liked about this role was it was something I hadn’t done before,” Jones, 33, said at a press conference at Los Angeles’ posh Peninsula hotel.
“Unknown,” she added, is “an homage to the old Hitchcock films, with a touch of noir to it.”

“I’m getting a milkshake,” announces January Jones, settling down at a table in the back of the Peninsula hotel after a long day. “I deserve one.”
Tucked in the corner of the library room, Jones, clad in a turquoise Roland Mouret sheath and light makeup, is somewhat anonymous. No one approaches the table for an autograph or sticks a camera phone in her face. But on the street where she lives, paparazzi swarm.
“They wait down the street on either end to see which way I’m going to go,” says Jones, who is photographed daily doing the most mundane activities: walking her dog, running to Kinko’s, shopping (and walking her dog again).
